Design Ideologies
The ideology surrounding the conception of the 1000 series was to offer the ESB sound within very affordable speakers and subwoofers, all without sacrificing quality. Between design features like lightweight yet rigid cones, large voice coils able to handle high power and domes of silk driven by powerful neodymium magnets; the list is impressive insofar as features that make these speakers uncompromising.
More Bass, Less Space
The 1000 series subwoofers are designed to achieve exceptional performance in an ultra-compact design that fits any application. Thanks to a cutting-edge design combined with engineering innovations that allow for an ultra-slim profile, ESB delivers the best bass without compromising performance and quality.
Design Features
Despite their low asking price the 1000 series are still filled with some impressive technology, well beyond many of their peers. Let’s take a closer look at the components below.
Hitting Hard, Staying Strong
The stamped steel on the subwoofer is reinforced with gussets and powder coated in a black finish. Despite that some may suggest it’s only being stamped steel, nonetheless ESB hasn’t overlooked the design profile shape, ensuring all frames create the minimum amount of resistance to the airflow emanating from the rear side of the piston diaphragm.
Light Yet Strong Cones
The polystyrene cone is the best marriage of lightness, stiffness and the ability of the cone to dampen any unwanted vibration. The waterproof treatment does not change the appearance and parameters of the speaker like the shiny polymers that add an appreciable amount of mass to the cone itself and significantly modify the sonic result.
The Motor Within
The voice coil of the subwoofers use an aluminium support and a winding with a double layer technology of copper wire with an aluminium core. The long stroke design was chosen to improve sensitivity and efficiency while keeping distortion to a minimum. All these subwoofers are equipped with a motor with a grade 40.5 Oz ferrite magnet, a type of magnet with significantly higher performance than the standard strontium types. The metal parts of the engine use low carbon steel and have been designed to obtain the maximum magnetic saturation, this guarantees the best electroacoustic parameters. The cooling system has also borrowed engineering acumen from higher models, thus allowing for over 500 Watts of maximum power. The subwoofer is optimized to work in sealed boxes of about 21 litres.
