Design Ideologies
Black is power, black is beautiful. This was the creed Eton stood by when developing the ONYX high-end series of components in Germany. The ONYX speakers are all characterized by superb quality workmanship and robust materials. Hand painted high-end fabric tweeter domes with asymmetrical coupling provide a warm yet silky and unobtrusive high-frequency experience with the very finest nuances of your music revealed. The full-bodied and warm-sounding midranges and woofers deliver a brilliant blended harmony; un-agitated, soft and with an unbelievable sound stage due to their ability to project sound forward.
Put simply; the ONYX is a class above the competition. From their fine resolution and warm timbres, through to their ability to deliver a serious kinetic kick when required. Borrowing technology from the higher level range insofar as their revolutionary basket design with its cooling fins and optimized rigidity, the chassis provides the necessary precision required for this system. The powerful neodymium drive accurately propels the high-end paper diaphragm, making lightning-fast level and direction changes a breeze. Over all the ONYX system guarantees long-lasting listening pleasure, all manufacturing and development in Germany.
High Strength Voice Coil
The ONYX series drivers feature extremely durable voice coils. Strong power surges and high temperature fluctuations must be withstood by a voice coil as current flows through it. This means your motor must be up to the task.
Ribbed Paper Cone Design
These drivers feature high-end stiffened paper cones with radially pressed ribs. Aside from the additional surface area these gussets strengthening the cone significantly.
Suspended Animation
Suspension is another area Eton have improved upon, with the flexible roll surround up top and a Nomex mixed fibre fabric progressive spider below. These work flawlessly together and are very strong; thus easily able to hold the reciprocating parts central and in control.
Neodymium Magnet System
A powerful magnet, neodymium provides full control over all aspects of the moving motor. Neodymium magnets are characterised by their high flux strength and optimal magnetic field symmetry.
Advanced Basket Design
Increased stability with minimal weight, the frame is powder-coated to resist corrosion. It’s physical shape is meticulously designed for maximum heat dissipation and air flow, and vastly reduced mechanical resonance.
Optimised Magnetic Field Symmetry
Many factors during the production of a speaker chassis subsequently result in symmetry of the magnetic field. It is a combination of the pole plate, the actual magnet and the T-yoke as well as their properties in size, magnetic strength and the precision; and of course how they’re put together. Eton has optimised this process and with the highest precision to achieve the best performance.
Optimised Cooling System
The T-yoke has been specially designed to absorb and effectively dissipate heat generated by the motor system, flowing a generous zephyr through a large core bore vent and specially designed perimeter ventilation ducts; all without creating any flow noise.
Made In Germany
Eton has been developing and testing loudspeakers for over 35 years. It’s all but perfected the art of loudspeaker design, it’s manufacturing process and developmental acumen playing a central role in this. These loudspeakers were developed and manufactured in Germany and have been subjected to Eton’s strict quality control regime. This guarantees high quality in terms of performance and workmanship.
