Design Ideologies
Evolution takes time, but time is what’s needed to perfect a craft. The Morel Maximo Ultra MKII is the latest evolution in a long lineage carrying the Maximo name, bringing impressive sound quality at an affordable price to car audio enthusiasts. The updated component systems improve upon the already impressive sound of its predecessors, while cosmetic updates bring simple elegance to their appearance. The Maximo Ultra MKII components are designed for easy installation in the factory locations of most vehicles with excellent off-axis dispersion, high resolution, and crisp detail to overcome some of the acoustic limitations of original speaker placement.
The 1-inch (25mm) soft dome tweeter and a 2.5-inch (51mm) midrange are both developed using Morel’s EVC technology for high-power handling, and naturally sounding response, and the 5.25″ or 6.5″ woofers utilize large 1-inch diameter voice coils and high-grade ferrite magnet motors capable of excellent bass performance for that instantly recognizable warm Morel sound.
Available in 2-way and 3-way systems, each model uses its own specific passive crossover networks to bring the highs, mids and lows together in perfect harmony. Using exceptional components, the passive networks provide each Maximo Ultra MKII system with up to 100 watts of power handling capability. Regardless of what you drive or what genre you listen to, the high-value Maximo Ultra MKII will vastly enhance your listening experience. Welcome to the Morel family. Grilles are also included.
Design Features
Morel engineering is simply beyond reproach. The sheer amount of technologies it injects into every single Morel design is simply astounding. We outline but a few of them below.
EVC™ Motor
Morel speakers with EVC™ technology utilize voice coils that are up to three times larger than those used in conventional loudspeakers, enabling improved heat dissipation, power handling and linearity. The EVC™ design moves the magnetic motor system to within the voice coil, eliminating stray magnetic flux by effectively directing all the magnetic energy to the voice coil. The EVC™ architecture is over 90% more efficient than conventional design, magnetically shielded, and highly compact.
High-grade Ferrite Magnet
Ferrite magnets are the most commonly used in speakers. While they look similar, there are several grades of magnets. Morel uses only the highest intensity available in its designs. As a result, Morel’s magnetic systems are highly compact yet deliver more magnetic flux than conventional ferrite magnets.
Paper cone
In use since the first loudspeakers, the paper continues to be an exceptional material of choice. Morel’s latest paper composite cones are ultra-lightweight, making them an exceptional pairing for drivers using smaller motors and voice coils.
