Design Ideologies
The Morel Supremo Special Edition represents the pinnacle of Morel’s innovation in high-fidelity automotive audio reproduction.
Meticulous Engineering
This meticulously engineered three-way active component system is designed to push the limits of linearity, dynamics and tonal balance; utilising advanced electroacoustic engineering principles and rigorous quality control to deliver an unparalleled listening experience. Unlike conventional speaker systems that rely on passive crossovers, the Supremo Special Edition is built exclusively for DSP controlled active setups. This allows for precise crossover points, time alignment, phase correction and equalisation. This enables users to optimise the system for any vehicle, ensuring maximum integration, coherence and soundstage accuracy.
Small Size, Titanic Performance – The Supremo Special Edition Tweeter
At the heart of the Supremo Special Edition is Morel’s Acuflex™ soft dome tweeter, featuring a specialised damping layer that controls resonance and prevents high-frequency distortion. Its wide-dispersion design creates a uniform response even off-axis, while a precision-engineered suspension system ensures linear movement and smooth, distortion-free highs—even at peak power levels.
The rear chamber is equipped with Morel’s new anti-standing wave technology (ASW™), which uses specially designed internal structures to break up and diffuse standing sound waves. This results in delivering a cleaner, more open and detailed performance.
The Magnificent Middle – The Supremo Special Edition midrange
The Supremo Special Edition midrange features a 2.1″ underhung EVC™ voice coil for exceptional clarity, transient accuracy and dynamic range. Its wideband frequency response—from 200 Hz to 5000 Hz ensures seamless integration with both tweeter and woofer. The Uniflow™ chassis reduces rear reflections for greater midrange purity and a deeper, more immersive three-dimensional soundstage. Together these elements maintain a consistent magnetic force across the diaphragm’s movement, resulting in natural distortion-free midrange with remarkable detail, vocal articulation and depth.
Here Comes The Boom – The Supremo Special Edition Woofer
Engineered with a 3″ underhung EVC™ voice coil, the Supremo Special Edition woofer delivers greater linear excursion and high power handling. The underhung voice coil keeps the coil centered within the magnetic gap, minimizing distortion at high power levels. The carbon fiber / Rohacell composite cone strikes the perfect balance of rigidity and lightness, preventing breakup and ensuring a most precise and controlled performance. Morel’s Controlled Acoustic Resistance (C.A.R™) filter enhances transient response, preventing overhang and keeping bass tight, fast and impactful. These technologies enable the Supremo Special Edition woofer to produce deep, accurate bass while maintaining low distortion and clean transient response. The end result being outstanding clarity and control.
Design Features
Morel’s engineering for this project was simply beyond reproach and without limitations. The sheer amount of technologies it injects into every single Morel design is simply astounding. We outline but a few of them below.
EVC™ Motor
Morel speakers with External Voice Coil (EVC™) technology utilize voice coils that are up to three times larger than those used in conventional loudspeakers, enabling improved heat dissipation, power handling and linearity. The EVC™ design moves the magnetic motor system to within the voice coil, eliminating stray magnetic flux by effectively directing all the magnetic energy to the voice coil. The EVC™ architecture is over 90% more efficient than conventional design, magnetically shielded, and highly compact.
Triple Layer Composite Cone
An advanced one-piece cone structure consisting of a woven carbon-fiber top skin, a Rohacell™ foam core and a non-woven carbon fiber skin beneath. This proprietary cone structure offers the ultimate balance of weight, ultra-high stiffness and high self-damping characteristics for naturally uncolored audio reproduction.
Handcrafted Acuflex™ Soft Dome
A specially engineered damping compound hand-applied to the soft domes, adding rigidity and damping, which greatly improves the clarity and bandwidth of the tweeter / midrange. The Acuflex™ diaphragm exhibits controlled cancelling break up (accurate–flexing), meaning each break-up mode is counteracted by another in the opposite direction, enabling smooth frequency response.
C.A.R Filter
Controlled Acoustic Resistance – The C.A.R. Filter™ improves the acoustic loading by controlling airflow within the driver, mimicking the effects of a cabinet while improving power handling by 30%. This provides greater control over the cone movement for improved bass dynamics.
Uniflow Chassis
An open design that is aerodynamically efficient to optimise venting and decompression allowing sound waves to flow uniformly and smoothly. Its geometric shape also eliminates interference with the woofer’s moving components, enabling the use of a low-profile spider for greater support and stability.
Anti-Standing Wave Technology
The ASW™ system utilises specially designed internal structures to break up and diffuse standing waves before they can interfere with the driver’s natural response. This innovative solution ensures the following:
– Internal reflections are diffused, preventing frequency peaks and dips caused by wave interference.
– Harmonic distortion is reduced, allowing for more accurate and neutral sound reproduction.
– The system maintains clarity at high output levels, as unwanted reflections are minimized.
– The tweeter and midrange operate in a controlled acoustic environment, ensuring consistent tonal balance across different installations.
