Design Ideologies
Tru Technology continues to epitomise audiophile excellence. Its products are proudly built utilising a rigorous quality assurance process to ensure each and every amplifier is running at their finest. All engineers at Tru Technology are 100% committed to manufacturing every component at the highest level. So no matter what products you’re looking to purchase, you can rest assured that all are handcrafted in California utilising some of finest parts and components available today.
True Artisans
Tru Technology is an artisan in every sense of the word. The company takes much pride in designing and building its own products. Meticulous by nature, its expert engineering team strive for perfection because it wants you to be as proud owning its products as the engineers are developing and making them.
High Voltage Needs
The need for a high-voltage source to drive aftermarket power amplifiers is as important as ever. High performance car audio amplifiers require plenty of clean undistorted signal voltage in order to achieve maximum performance. Shockingly many of today’s aftermarket source units do not produce the proper signal voltage levels needed. Some of the best units are only rated for four Volts RMS and most can barely even produce that. If you are lucky enough to have a source unit that will produce four Volts RMS the only way to reach that output is with your volume level set at maximum at which your signal will more often than not be distorting. The typically rule of thumb used to avoid a distorted signal is to setup and tune your system at three quarter volume; and therein lies the problem. Even a high quality four Volt source unit can have a difficult time reaching one Volt RMS at three-quarter volume. Add a second or third amplifier to the chain and watch your signal drop even more.
Cause And Effect
Now let’s string this together and see what the possible effects are. Having a poor-quality signal going to your amplifier may not only cause a less than optimal sound level it can also make your music sound compressed and lifeless. In an attempt to combat this, you will to need to turn your voltage input sensitivity, or gain control; up on your amplifier. However now that the gain controls are turned up to achieve the sound level you want, you have also at the same time inadvertently increased the likelihood that your system will have more background hiss and possibly noise. How do we fix this you ask? By adding a line driver. A line driver will increase the signal voltage to a higher level thereby allowing you to turn the gain controls down and allow for greater noise rejection, lower background hiss and increased dynamic performance.
Supplying Clean Power
The job of line drivers is now obvious, to boost the source unit signal in order to obtain optimal system performance. It is critical that the line driver does not induce any of its own noise or distortion into the system. Special attention, attention that’s often overlooked by Tru Technology’s competitors; needs to be focused not only on power supply and signal path but also the quality of parts used. Tru Technology takes pride in designing and building its exclusive products. From start to finish this is why even on its entry level design only quality caps, parts and various audiophile op-amps are used. The result is a dead quiet and distortion free signal.
Philosophical Quality
Most companies approach and philosophy is to make a line driver as cheap as possible, slap a label on it and throw it in a box with little or no regard to sound quality. Who can blame them, after all to them a line driver is just a voltage multiplier. Tru Technology’s approach and philosophy though was this will not be a generic voltage multiplier but an exceptional audiophile piece. It started the design around the concept of an Audiophile Headphone Amplifier. It paid extraordinary attention to the power supply design in order to achieve the absolute in dynamics. Throughout the output section both the signal path and grounding planes were optimized to deliver an unprecedented signal to noise ratio. Engineers are able to custom build the output section to impact and condition the entire audio band to the end users’ musical preferences. The result of all this is an unrivaled customized level of fidelity.
Amazing sonic transparency, extended dynamic range, remarkable signal-to-noise levels and individualised sound quality options that can be tailored to your musical taste makes it is easy to see why this is not your generic line driver in a box. The discerning audiophile who truly appreciates specialized audio will enjoy the world-class fidelity and the dramatic sound quality difference this piece will bring into their system. This is why Tru Technology calls its product a line amp conditioner and not just a line driver.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line is if you want to extract all of the incredible dynamics your system is capable of while infusing it with superior resolution and personalized fidelity, you need a Tru Technology line amp conditioner.
