Thinking Big – The BD635 Midbass Drivers
The BD635 midbass speakers have a classic Audible Physics design with a traditional white diaphragm and dust cap that’s copper in colour. The diaphragm is made of advanced magnesium silica polymer (MSP); a material known for its excellent rigidity, very low weight and minimal vibrations. This allows for accurate and natural sound reproduction. Other advantages of this material include practically zero vibrations resulting from the movement of the membrane, which is also enhanced by a durable rubber surround ensuring optimal damping and transverse stability. The suspension also eliminates any movement that could cause contact between the 25.4 mm voice voil and the robust 90 mm x 20 mm ceramic magnet. Coil and other copper components are made of the highest quality Japanese copper with exceptional conductivity and durability. The specially designed cast speaker basket has several advantages. It is exceptionally rigid hence eliminates vibrations, suffering no deformity when the membrane is moving at extremes; as is the case with conventional steel baskets. At the same time it does not interfere with the magnetic field and dissipates heat from the motor with significantly more efficiently. The basket also included massive cable terminals, which we’re more used to seeing on subwoofers than midbass drivers.
Crystal Clear Highs – The TW120 Tweeter Drivers
The TW120 tweeter features its own patented matrix alloy dome material. It is a magnesium and aluminum alloy that offers several advantages including exceptional high-frequency details, analytically accurate sound and an extremely deep sound scape. The end result of its clever design is a perfect linearity curve and smooth frequency response, with almost perfect neutrality. In addition magnesium has great damping properties, so together with very rigid aluminum in the alloy this material significantly reduces distortion and mechanical deformation. The high-quality 19 mm neodymium magnet is optimised to achieve better efficiency and improve linearity to ensure perfect power management and increase bandwidth and efficiency. They feature a low resonance frequency too, which will allow the ability to reproduce even lower frequencies than is customary with most competing tweeters. The copper colour follows the dust cap of the larger drivers forming a visually perfect matched system. The tweeters reside within CNC machines steel housings and are designed to be recessed. Including are retaining rings for fast and reliable fastening.
