Design Ideologies
Though the presentation remains modest, that signature Eton logo on the dust cap signifies more audio heritage than most appreciate. This masterful German aural architect has been designing speakers and subwoofers since 1983, and this esteemed heritage and amassed technical acumen allows the company to build subwoofers that return a sound that is dynamic and powerful, taking driving to another level. With the release of the MW range of subwoofers prepare yourself to enter a new realm of subsonic emotions.
Born from Eton’s expertise in acoustics and physics, the MW range pushes the boundaries of on-board listening performance without going berserk upon the budget. Between the the cones, motors and suspension systems the MW range offers uncompromising harmonic balance and sound precision. The range features a variety of sizes, in both full depth and shallow layout. This allows you to tailor your purchase to meet your real estate needs.
Awesome Kinetics
The MW subwoofers are no slouches! Rather, they’re a delectable blend of high-power handling and reliability. All subwoofers within the stable feature the iconic black cone with embossed rubber magnet protector. The cone is supported by a strong and highly reliable rubber surround which is stitched for extra resilience, its exclusive extended range of motion EROM profile has been optimised to enable very long travel whilst retaining control. Along with the bulletproof spider beneath it, together these provide a most articulate bass reproduction. When talking Eton you’ll notice the company doesn’t overlook any facet or detail when designing. Even the aluminium chassis is a key player in quality sound reproduction. Rigid, non-magnetic and specially designed for these subwoofers; it improves the rigidity of the motor within. As a result the subwoofer can easily deliver sustained, striking and dynamic subbass.
Design Features
The extensive heritage of this astute company, together with its ever-increasing technical acumen; is conducive to these subwoofers featuring a vast array of impressive design ideologies and latest technological advancements.
Suspension Technology
The treated double stitched foam surround along with a strong yet fluid polycotton spider work together to keep the piston’s reciprocal motion linear and distortion free.
Motor Structure
The MW subwoofers feature a light-weight vented former which holds a thermally efficient double voice coil. This vented high energy motor assembly is surrounded by incredibly powerful ferrite magnets which increase power handling and hence sound pressure. Warmed air is expelled from a large pole venting system.
Holding It All Together
The back end is held in stasis by a heavy duty die-cast aluminum basket that’s thence powder-coated for protection against the elements. This frame is most solid and extremely resistant to torsion and other nasty force moments. It’s construction incorporates an open design for maximum heat dissipation. Between this and the central venting the subwoofer is most adept at exchanging heat with cool air, resulting in more power handling and increased reliability. Attached to this basket are twin plated push type terminals.
Pushing The Zephyr
The cone is a incredibly stiff yet lightweight pressed air-dried paper pulp blend which return an impressive Young’s Modulus rating. Simple physics states the lighter and stronger the cone the easier job the amplifier will have controlling it. This certainly rings true here.
