Design Ideologies
At the heart of each VXi amplifier is a triple-core AKM® processing engine with a custom configuration on board. This powerful DSP not only enables powerful tuning capabilities, but it also helps to improve amplifier audio performance by acting as a master clock for the full-range audio amplifier sections. Further amplifier performance gains have been achieved via minimum loop area output designs, DirectFET® output devices and closely coupled output capacitor banks. The result is a new level of class D amplifier performance, combining outstanding efficiency, reliable power delivery and world-class audio quality.
World Class DSP Engine
The triple-core processing engine has ample power to enable a full suite of powerful signal processing functions. These include powerful input switching, routing and mixing that allow a wide range of sources and configurations. Multiple banks of parametric equalization can be assigned to individual channels or groups of channels. Also included for each amplifier output channel and the analogue pre-outs are high-pass and low-pass filters, delay, all-pass filter, polarity and output level trim. Optical, digital pre-outs feature the ability to EQ and level control the digital stream.
Instead of using traditional control knobs and switches, VXi amplifiers are easily configured from the driver’s seat, using JL Audio’s TüN™ software on a compatible computer, tablet or smartphone.
Design Features
JL Audio’s engineering department is at the forefront of research pertaining to every aspect of amplification and processing. It’s developed proprietary analysis systems and invested heavily in state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing. The resulting range of products has become widely considered as reference standards and has also resulted in many U.S. and International Patents issued for technologies that refine and extend the audio performance envelope. Many of these have found their way into the VXi platforms. Let’s look a little closer at some of the key features.
DSP Inside
Digital signal processing technology is a vital process in audio engineering that makes use of specialized processors and mathematical algorithms to measure and modify digitized audio signals. Using s DSP you can precisely manipulate digitised audio signals, either automatically or via user adjustment. The DSP is also used to monitor and control audio signals presented to input and amplifier circuits, much more precisely than analogue methodology.
NexD₂™ Switching Technology
JL Audio’s NexD₂™ amplifier technologies are a next-level approach to improving what is already an outstanding class D platform. Employing new components and more advanced circuit layouts, fidelity and efficiency have been significantly enhanced.
Differential Balanced Inputs
JL Audio’s differential balanced inputs are engineered to combat induced cable noise, which is a common problem in car and marine audio installations. This technology allows for the use of conventional RCA cables, while delivering many of the benefits of a true balanced connection and accepting a wide range of input signal levels.
Advanced Rollback Protection
JL Audio’s exclusive advanced rollback protection circuit monitors the amplifier’s thermal condition and adjusts amplifier operation to eliminate annoying amplifier shut-down events.
JLid™ Protocol Technology
JLid™ is JL Audio’s protocol for digital controllers and for communication of settings between devices, not for audio signals but for actual two control communication between devices.
