When asked about the philosophy of his company Micro-Precision; Mr Hoffmann shrugged and replied In my life I've seen and heard a lot of different 'philosophies'. Most of them appear only on a piece of paper or on a computer screen. For me there is only one philosophy; to find the soul of the music. Z-Series – The Epitome Of Control And Articulation
The Z-Series were designed for the ultimate music aficionado. When Micro-Precision set out to develop the Z-Series range of components it didn’t arrive at its target haphazardly. These component speakers broke the mould insofar as handcrafted quality is concerned, representing the pinnacle of advanced engineering philosophies and materials. Designed to excess by Thomas Hoffman and his team by creating a synthesis of technological expertise with an aesthetically stunning design; the Z-Series are not only supreme in their aural reproduction, they’re also quite simply beautiful to behold. They really are the complete package to satisfy all the senses; look, feel and hearing!

Design Ideologies
With its legendary metallic silver sandwich membranes and magnesium baskets the Z-Series components, not to be confused with the Z-Studio series; provide the most realistic sound reproduction for literally any genre of music. Because of their lightweight motor structure and diaphragm they’re highly sensitive and easy to drive, thus allowing an amplifier to deliver through them an enveloping and dynamic sound that is completely controlled and extremely accurate.

The Metallic Sandwich Membrane
The diaphragms are made of special lightweight yet rigid foam compound, shaped meticulously to provide not only the best strength but also the best projection azimuth. The technology employed in the production of these membrane was first developed and patented in Germany by Dr. Emil Podszus in 1935. This technology was thence further refined and developed by H.J. Görlich in his company’s high-end loudspeakers designed primarily for studio applications. Since 1998, H.J. Görlich and Thomas Hoffmann have jointly invested in the further development of loudspeakers manufactured according to the Podszus-Görlich technology, which is still used today by Micro-Precision by Thomas Hoffmann.

The process of manually producing these membranes is painstakingly complicated, requiring significant technical acumen and materialistic experience. Producing these cones also generates considerable material losses and together these challenges are conducive to their production being time-consuming and expensive, thus limiting the quantity of these hand-made speakers. Over the last century many an audio company has been inspired by the sound offered by these unique drivers. Some have even had the audacity to attempt to copy them, however the original bulletproof sound of over eighty years of developmental experience has never been fully achieved by others.

Bedrock Solid Foundation
The basket of the Z-Series midranges are made from cast thence machined magnesium. Said material has been chosen for its properties such as extreme strength, light weight and most importantly; magnetic inertness.

Fluid Surround
The speaker drivers benefit from an extremely fluid surround. It it not only free-floating but actually presents a profile that’s specially designed to control and combat the effect of resonance and reduce the distortion associated with cone deformation. This is conducive to every Z-Series driver outputting sound that’s perfectly defined and ultra realistic.

Superb Linearity, Control And Precision
The textile spiders on the Z-Series drivers are built around a progressive section to reproduce all the impact of the bass and increase the linearity, precision and dynamics of the sound.

Superior Cooling
The cooling system for the within the drivers expel hot air from the coil towards the bottom of the motor through a generous pole vent. This improves control over the coil temperature, limiting the effects of heat compression and improving reliability. This improves the dynamics of the speaker driver and generates a powerful sound.
