Design Ideologies
The Elate Carbon Neo continues Morel’s long-standing tradition of delivering high-power, high-fidelity performance while offering greater installation flexibility. Created for enthusiasts who demand uncompromising sonic performance without sacrificing practicality, the Neo generation incorporates many of the advanced technologies developed for the flagship Neo Pro series. The result is a sophisticated loudspeaker platform that combines serious power handling with the refinement, resolution and musicality for which Elate has become renowned.
Innovations Aplenty
A key innovation is the new MT-550 tweeter, featuring Morel’s legendary handcrafted Acuflex™ coated soft dome. Coupled to a newly optimised neodymium motor system the MT-550 delivers increased efficiency, reduced distortion and greater refinement while retaining the smooth and natural tonal balance that has long characterised the Morel sound. Beyond its acoustic performance the tweeters contemporary architecture introduces a subtle aesthetic evolution, complementing the technical sophistication of the Neo platform.
Powerful Construction
The Neo woofers and midrange drivers continue to employ Morel’s advanced TLC carbon fibre / Rohacell sandwich-cone construction, combined with large voice coils and powerful motor systems optimised through advanced simulation techniques. For the Neo generation both suspension geometry and magnetic structures have been further refined to improve linearity, minimise distortion and enhance transient response. This allows the drivers to deliver greater dynamic expression, authority and composure across their operating range.
Refined To Perfection
Refining an already accomplished loudspeaker platform is no small undertaking, yet the Elate Carbon Neo achieves precisely that. Through the integration of enhanced driver technology, advanced acoustic engineering and Morel’s meticulous handcrafted approach; the Neo generation elevates the Elate formula to a new level of performance. The result is a system capable of delivering exceptional detail, effortless dynamics and deeply engaging musical reproduction whilst retaining the flexibility demanded by serious modern installations.
Design Features
The extensive heritage of Morel, together with the ever increasing technical abilities of its engineering team; is conducive to these components featuring a vast array of impressive design ideologies and latest technological advancements. We canvas some of these elements below.
The Diaphragm Masterpiece
The Elate Carbon Neo cones are created from Klipple optimized carbon fiber / Rohacell sandwich cones for ultra-low distortion and high power handling levels. These diaphragms feature a most impressive Young’s Modulus measurement in conjunction with extreme strength and minimal mass. This allows the amplifier to driver these cones with an superior accuracy unheard of hitherto.
EVC™ Motor
Morel speakers with EVC™ technology utilize voice coils that are up to three times larger than those used in conventional loudspeakers, enabling improved heat dissipation, power handling and linearity. The EVC™ design moves the magnetic motor system to within the voice coil, eliminating stray magnetic flux by effectively directing all the magnetic energy to the voice coil. The EVC™ architecture is over 90% more efficient than conventional design, magnetically shielded, and highly compact.
Titanium Voice Coil Former
Titanium bobbins, or former or body; are known for their high rigidity, light weight, superior heat dissipation and conductive characteristics. Morel’s research and development team was able to decrease eddy currents inside the magnetic gap, improve heat dissipation considerably, lower distortion and improve power handling. Despite the tremendous cost and new sophisticated manufacturing processes, it delivers a tonally balanced, highly accurate, and exceptionally fast transient transducer.
Handcrafted Acuflex™ Soft Dome
A specially engineered damping compound hand-applied to the soft domes, adding rigidity and damping, which greatly improves the clarity and bandwidth of the tweeter / midrange. The Acuflex™ diaphragm exhibits controlled cancelling break up (accurate–flexing), meaning each break-up mode is counteracted by another in the opposite direction, enabling smooth frequency response.
C.A.R Filter
Controlled Acoustic Resistance – The C.A.R. Filter™ improves the acoustic loading by controlling airflow within the driver, mimicking the effects of a cabinet while improving power handling by 30%. This provides greater control over the cone movement for improved bass dynamics.
DMM Motor
Morel’s double drive system generates more magnetic energy than a single magnet of similar size, increasing efficiency and the dynamic range. The position of the secondary magnet fixed above the top plate in the motor is the key in controlling stray magnetic flux, thus generating a more focused magnetic field while also contributing to the shielded characteristic of our speakers.
