Design Ideologies
If you’re one of those exasperated punters fast growing tired of speaker connectors always being the wrong shape, wrong size, wrong type, wrong this, wrong that; has PHD Audiophile Sound Systems got a solution for you. For all PHD Audiophile Sound Systems midbasses, midranges, tweeters, coaxials and widebands use beefier connectors; with both polarities being a universaly DIN standard sized 6.3 mm x 0.8 mm flat connectors. A good quality Abiko or Würth flat connector grips the terminal properly and ensures a good contact. The elements are all gold-plated to resist corrosion and attached through the frame, meaning the terminal’s attachment is very sturdy.
Seeing Red
The PHD Audiophile Sound Systems’ RED 6.1 Kit separate component set takes the best of the sounds of the CF collection, the musicality and richness in the midrange and upper end; and strengthens it significantly. A more solid bass reproduction is added to this recipe, which results in a supremely balanced quality even for very low frequencies.
Holding Things Together
All PHD Audiophile Sound Systems woofers feature upper suspension made from hydrogenated nitrile rubber. This material is one of the most valuable types of rubber, exuding excellent fluidity properties with a parabolic profile designed specifically for supporting the moving mass. Between this and the lower polycotton spider, the speakers return excellent mechanical resistance, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, flexibility and temperature resistance of -40° to +160°.
Breathe Speaker, Breathe
For ventilation of the voice coil there are large ventilation openings in the center pole of the magnet. This allows cool zephyrs to snake around the motor structure before exiting via the output vents.
The Strength Of the Diaphragm
The cones of the woofers are constructed from a hybrid blend of fiberglass and long-strand strengthening fibers have been added to increase the damping of the cone and eliminate mechanical resonance conducive to deformation.
The Astute Highs
The tweeter is a 1.1″ TWE silk dome tweeter number with a very low mounting profile height, meaning it’s installation depth without installation cups is only a few millimeters. This makes the tweeter easier to install in almost any factory location, be it mirror triangle or a-pillar. A surface mounting cup and a corner mounting cup are both included for the tweeter. These mounting cups are also PHD Audiophile Sound Systems’ own production, meaning the snug fit between the tweeter and the cup is sturdy and guaranteed not to rattle.
