Design Ideologies
Steg’s incredible Master Stroke MSS series three-way component set draw upon nearly half a century masterful Italian design philosophies, technical acumen and advanced materials. The ensuing result is simply phenomenal, easily able to outperform speakers thrice the price.
The Kinetic Connection – The 6.5″ Midranges
The 6.5″ midranges are extremely efficient and always under control, thanks to immensely strong neodymium magnets. They feature compact, aerodynamically transparent bedrock solid cast aluminium baskets; said material chosen for its magnetically inert properties. Top side the MSS6 feature a blended fibercarbon composite cone with a specifically profiled rubber surround. On the frame are solid terminals, connected internally to these are high quality leads sewn in the spiders, which are progressively rolled polycotton. Between the surround atop and spider beneath the reciprocation control is otherworldly. To protect the bottom of the motors are extended back plates capped with polished magnet covers. It’s a downright crime the back-end of these speakers won’t be seen once installed, for the motor is a work of art.
The Vocal Element – The 4″ Midranges
A state-of-the-art midrange drivers are effectively wide-band drivers, able to play cleanly past the 16500 Hz region whilst at the same time packing a punch down past 150 Hz, although they ought to be crossed a little higher. Arguably the most important driver of the range as it emits all vocal and middle range tones; the MSS3 is a phenomenal midrange. Akin to the larger driver it also features a magnetically inert high-grade cast aluminum basket. To protect the fibercarbon composite cone they feature integrated hex-mesh grilles which are acoustically transparent. Controlling the show are neodymium magnets, with a very large open venting system for superior cooling.
Filling In The Top End – The 1″ Tweeters
Sitting adjacent to their siblings and looking just as resplendent, the MSS1 tweeters astound with their amazing detail, complimenting the MSS3 midrange drivers perfectly. Because of their supreme motor strength they’re able to cover a wide band, conducive to them working just as well with MSS6 midrange drivers solely as a two-way component set if need be. Top side there is a specifically profiled magnesium dome supported by silk suspension system, this affair has been coated with Graphene. Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms, tightly bound in a hexagonal honeycomb lattice. It is an allotrope of carbon in the form of a plane of sp2-bonded atoms with a molecular bond length of 0.142 nanometres. In plain English that simply means the dome is extremly strong yet incredibly lightweight and easy to move with lightning speed. The dome is meticulously shaped to return an vast azimuth. Protecting the front you have option of either a grille or cap. The grille is a hex mesh style to match the midrange driver, whereas the cap is a diffusion cap which can be mounted directly over the dome to refract its airflow. The rear labyrinth chamber is constructed from high-grade machined aluminum and sports a heavy duty neodynium magnet to control the reciprocation without fuss.
