Design Ideologies
The legendary SQL Series 2 are Stereo Integrity’s best-ever produced subwoofer when it comes to performance-to-cost ratio. They’re engineered to offer a solid sound quality (SQ) foundation, complemented by the potential for gut-wrenching bass when needed. The SQL series are designed using finite element analysis (FEA) simulation software, thus embodying its name through delivering sound quality that’s loud.
Advanced Motor Technology
The motor topology of the SQL Series 2 drivers are based on an SGLC overhung design. They employ a solid copper winding 2.75″ / 70 mm voice coil, which is thence wound on a split black anodized aluminum former. The choice of a 2.75″ / 70 mm diameter coil strikes the perfect balance between 2.5″ / 63.5 mm and 3″ / 76.2″ coil diameters. This is conducive to less inductance than a larger coil while offering more motor force than the smaller coil. The coil and overall mass balance have been meticulously calculated and verified through multiple Klippel test sessions, resulting in a 50 mm winding width coil (voice coil winding height). Nested inside the Y35 grade magnet structure, you’ll find a solid aluminum faraday ring that reduces inductance for enhanced transient attack characteristics.
Superior Suspension
The SQL Series 2 drivers are equipped with large 8.375″ / 212.73 mm dual Nomex spiders. They offer a uniform suspension compliance curve that minimizes suspension distortion over the linear stroke. These spiders are designed to stiffen up at or near the limits of Xmax to handle extra excursion when necessary. Dual mirror flat woven lead wires are sewn onto the top of the spider, ensuring symmetrical compliance on both sides. This effective eliminates the coil rocking issues associated with single leaded spiders.
Topside Superiority
Turning the unit top side reveals a stiff, naturally dried treated paper cone and tall roll rubber surround gracing the top of the SQL Series 2 subwoofers. The paper pulp cone brings the ideal mass for improved low-frequency reproduction, while the tall rubber surround harmoniously complements the dual Nomex spiders. This creates a perfectly balanced suspension curve. View the white BL / Kms plot within the images to view the Klippel results.
Enclosing The Monster
The design of the enclosure and the overall performance of the SQL Series 2 drivers cannot be overlooked. These subwoofers can operate efficiently in a very small sealed enclosure or in small to medium-sized vented enclosures. The low F3 points in the sealed enclosures of the SQL series enable them to play down to 8 Hz, making them unrivaled low-end performers even in compact sealed boxes. The immaculate output capability at full volume is directly attributed to their 28 mm one-way linear Xmax.
All in all, Stereo Integrity’s SQL Series 2 subwoofers readily deliver clean, loud and broad bandwidth performance; even in small enclosures. Elevate your audio experience with the SQL Series 2 drivers.
Design Features
The rich heritage of this astute and masterful designer, together with its ever-increasing technical acumen; is conducive to these components featuring a vast array of impressive design ideologies and latest technological advancements. Some of these include:
– The SQL Series 2 series are designed for high-output power, creating bass you can feel resulting in a more immersive audio experience.
– Dual 2.375″ / 70 mm voice coils. These coils offer unparalleled audio clarity and resonance, resulting in superior sound quality.
– High continuous power handling ability. This uncompromising power output enables you to accentuate even the lowest-frequency sound waves, ensuring you hear every subtle nuance in your music.
– Specially crafted for smaller rather than larger enclosures, yet it doesn’t compromise on sound output.
– Klippel optimized motor. Because of its finite element analysis (FEA) optimized motor and advanced Faraday ring technology, this subwoofer offers superior performance.
– Proprietary Y35 grade magnet structure.
– Superior cooling system for optimum thermal efficiency.
– Expertly designed motor topology.
– Advanced pulp composite cone is very light. Less moving mass reduces distortion for smoother audio response.
– Stylish framework thanks to its eight spoke magnetically inert aluminium basket.
– Long throw Xmax for ultra-low frequency extensions.
– Available with either paper or carbon fibre dust cap for extra strength. This listing is for the standard dust cap version.
A Note About The Pricing
We’re sometimes asked why Australian prices are higher than those listed overseas. Allow us to explain how we stores arrive at the price for these components.
– You first take the US price and run it through an exchange website to convert it to Australian dollars.
– You then have to add ten percent for GST tax. The Australian government stipulates that this tax is compulsory, therefore it must be added.
– You then add the cost of air-freighting to Australia. Now products can be shipped via surface freight but the wait can sometimes drag out many months. For a weighty product like this the cost is quite a few hundred.
Put succinctly; between our dollar not being so strong against the US dollar, European euro or British pound, in addition to us being far away geographically; this is conducive to products costing more here in Australia.
