Blaupunkt’s Innovative New Glass Components
Being consistently involved with the design, development, testing and auditioning of many a companies’ speakers is conducive to seeing all matter of materials and techniques employed; as designers seek the colloquial silver bullet when it comes to well damped and most fluid diaphragms. Some of these materials get quite exotic, intrinsically leading the price being equally exotic. German company Blaupunkt however has recently opted for a different approach, using a material that is around us all every day.
Glass.
Yes that’s right; glass. Blaupunkt’s search for the best acoustic solution started by overcoming the intrinsic limits of traditional loudspeakers, something it was able to achieve thanks to possessing just over one hundred years of engineering experience. Aside from achieving this feat physically, meticulous attention was also given to getting the specifications just perfect using high-tech simulation software. This allowed Blaupunkt’s engineering team to develop what many are already calling some of the best transducers ever within this price bracket. They’ve been designed from the outset to transcend all boundaries, reproducing every minute detail and nuance from your high-end amplifier, and it’s widely claimed they do just that.
Given we see this sort of mantra trotted out with the release of every new range, Marty decided to get a set in for testing and audition. And we’re most excited to report they’re every bit as good as the bow-wave of hype says, so much so we immediately asked to buy them from Blaupunkt upon listening to and reviewing them.
Blaupunkt’s glass cone stable includes a two-way 6.5″ & 1″ passive component set in the MPS1652C38H, a 3.5″ active midrange set in the MPS2351M and a three-way semi-active combination of both.
